Brick: Hoops transfers project as important contributors

Eligible transfers from Division I basketball programs project to be important contributors next season for several ACC members. Interestingly, however, only a few of these new transfers are, at this juncture, truly highly regarded.

Looking backward at the 2015-2016 season, the best newly eligible transfers were the Louisville duo of 6-6 Damion Lee and 6-2 Trey Lewis (both fifth-year graduates and the Cardinals’ leading scorers), and arguably Virginia Tech’s Zach LeDay and perhaps Georgia Tech’s Adam Smith.

It was also expected that NC State junior wing Terry Henderson, who had averaged nearly 12 points per game at West Virginia before transferring and sitting out the 2014-2015 campaign, would be a significant addition, but he injured an ankle a few minutes into his first game, required surgery and will be a fourth-year junior for the Wolfpack in 2016-17. Mark Gottfried’s team also gains the services of 6-5 sophomore combo guard Torin Dorn, who had a strong rookie season at Charlotte before transferring to the Pack.
