Large payout makes Sweet 16 appearances even sweeter for the ACC

Coming off the most lucrative NCAA tournament in the history of the ACC in 2015 — in which five league teams reached the Sweet 16, three more advanced to the Elite Eight, and the conference earned over $32 million in revenue from the NCAA’s tournament fund — the league stands to do even better this year.

That’s because the ACC has become the first conference in history to produce six Sweet 16 participants in a single year of the NCAA Tournament.

The league not only gets the prestige of having its teams heavily covered and exposed in the coming days, but it’ll also receive a windfall of cash thanks to the league’s combined 12-1 record over the first two rounds of the Big Dance.
