Mendenhall hires Shaun Nua, finalizes staff

New Virginia football coach Bronco Mendenhall filled the final opening on his staff by hiring Shaun Nua, who has coached the defensive line at Navy for the past four seasons, all of them ending with bowl trips.

Nua was a defensive lineman as a player at BYU and has a Super Bowl ring from his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. Of the nine full-time members of Mendenhall’s anticipated UVa staff, six will be following him from Brigham Young.

They will be joined by Nua, fired East Carolina head coach Ruffin McNeill and receivers coach Marques Hagans off the staff of ousted UVa coach Mike London.
