Cardinals snag their first 2017 LB commit

The first four players to commit to Louisville’s 2017 recruiting class came from out of state. That trend continued on Wednesday, when the Cardinals scored their newest commitment.

Tadarrius Patterson of Birmingham, Alabama, is the latest player to pledge to Louisville. He is the first linebacker to commit to the team’s 2017 group.

Patterson announced the news via social media.

Patterson plays both linebacker and defensive end for George Washington Carver High School. He is rated the No. 89 outside linebacker in his class and the No. 45 rising senior in Alabama, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

The 6-1, 221-pound prospect is the second player to give his verbal commitment to Bobby Petrino’s staff this month, joining Las Vegas offensive lineman Poutasi Poutasi. The Cardinals now have five players pledged to a 2017 class that is ranked No. 54 in the country, according to the 247Sports composite index.
