Stilman White Returns to UNC

Stilman White, who filled in for an injured Kendall Marshall as North Carolina’s starting point guard at the end of the 2011-12 season, has completed his Mormon mission and is returning to the team, the school announced Tuesday. He will be a sophomore next year.

Following a freshman campaign in which he played in all 34 games, White missed the next two seasons while on a Mormon mission. He tallied 32 assists and only five turnovers on the year.

“We’re glad to have Stilman back in school and with our team,” Roy Williams said in a statement. “He has not played much basketball the last two years and is coming off an ankle injury so he has some work to do to catch up. But he will give us additional experience and depth in the backcourt.”

With White returning, the Tar Heels will have five point guards on the roster next year. Junior Marcus Paige, sophomore Nate Britt, freshman Joel Berry and senior Luke Davis will also be running the point for Williams’ team.
