Pack vs. Heels Known for Drawing Huge Postseason Crowds

For the 97th consecutive year, North Carolina and N.C. State will face one another on the baseball diamond.  The streak was in jeopardy after the rivals’ lone regular-season matchup was cancelled due to bad weather and scheduling conflicts, but as seeding positions unfolded over the weekend, the No. 7-seeded Tar Heels and No. 10-seeded Wolfpack ended up falling into a play-in game.

The game is set for 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday in Greensboro, N.C., and while there won’t be as many fans attending as there were in the last few games between the two, it’ll be one of the most highly anticipated contests of the season for both.  Here’s a look at attendance numbers from some of the more recent State-Carolina postseason games:

June 20, 2013 (College World Series) – 25,742

June 16, 2013 (College World Series) – 22,972

May 25, 2013 (ACC Tournament) – 11,392

May 26, 2012 (ACC Tournament) – 10,229
