Cutcliffe goes in-depth on collaborative instant replay

Duke football coach David Cutcliffe joined The David Glenn Show on Wednesday to talk about his thoughts on collaborative instant replay, throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium and former Duke players fighting for NFL roster spots as rookies.

Cutcliffe stated that he trusts the new replay system is the right direction for the ACC to take in order to make calls more accurate.

“I feel good about the integrity of the people involved,” he said. “That’s never been an issue with me. I think officials, be they supervisors, be they replay guys or on the field, are some of the best people I’ve ever known.”

Cutcliffe was vocal about an issue Duke faced a year ago against Miami. The Hurricanes scored a touchdown on the final play of the game to win 30-27, but the officials missed multiple calls on the play — one of which should have been overturned by replay.

In addition to the replay official in each stadium, there will be others in charge of each ACC review in the conferences offices in Greensboro.  Cutcliffe believes the training involved will also immensely help in eliminating mistakes as well.

“They want it right and we want it right. This is a better step toward trying to get it right.”
