BC scores another commitment, setting up for quality class

Boston College added more linebacker depth to its 2017 recruiting class on Tuesday when West Orange, New Jersey, native Paul Theobald committed to the Eagles. Theobald announced the news via social media.

BC was the first college football program to extend a scholarship offer to Theobald, doing so in February. Since then, Rutgers, UCF and Northwestern reached out with offers of their own.

A 6-2, 212-pound prospect, Theobald is the only linebacker to pledge to the Eagles this cycle. He is the second class of 2017 prospect from New Jersey to commit to Boston College, joining Jersey City offensive lineman Ben Petrula.

Theobald is rated a 3-star recruit, according to Rivals.com. He is one of eight recruits in Steve Addazio’s 2017 class, which is ranked No. 10 in the ACC and No. 51 nationally by Rivals. By comparison, the program’s 2016 signing class was ranked No. 14 in the ACC and No. 81 nationally.
