Rumor Mill: ACC transfer could stay in conference

Check out the latest rumors we’re hearing on transfers:

  • According to multiple reports, Duke transfer Derryck Thornton will visit Miami next month. The point guard played in all 36 of Duke’s games this season, starting 20, and averaged 7.1 and 2.6 assists per game. After sitting out the 2016-17 season, Thornton will have three years of eligibility left.
  • Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported Wednesday that Colorado State transfer John Gillon will visit Syracuse next weekend. Gillon, who recently was also contacted by NC State, averaged 13.2 points and 3.8 assists per contest as the Rams’ point guard this past season. As a graduate transfer, he’ll be eligible to play immediately.
  • Per Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Georgia Tech is among the schools under consideration for Lipscomb graduate transfer J.C. Hampton. A 6-0 guard, Hampton led the Bisons in scoring this seaosn with 15.9 PPG. The Yellow Jackets currently have two open scholarships for next season, and that number would grow should anyone else leave.
