Recent moves put NC State in excellent shape down low

Three-star forward Darius Hicks, a one-time Mississippi State commitment from Quitman, Mississippi, who played prep basketball at 22 Feet Academy in Greenville, South Carolina, picked NC State over Cincinnati and Tulane last Friday. The 6-7, 210-pound Hicks averaged 14 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting 58 percent from the floor.
International star center Omer Yurtseven, considered by some a 5-star prospect and ranked by DraftExpress.com as the No. 14 prospect in the 2017 NBA Draft, picked NC State over Syracuse and Utah on Monday. The 7-foot, 240-pounder was fresh off scoring 91 points in one game while playing for the Turkey U-18 National team.
Rising junior forward Abdul-Malik Abu and rising senior center BeeJay Anya confirmed on Thursday that they were withdrawing from the NBA Draft to return to school. Abu in particular is a key cog back after he averaged 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in ACC play. Anya is the school’s all-time leading shot-blocker.
