Less than a week after 5-star quarterback Tate Martell decommitted from Texas A&M, two ACC programs have joined the hunt for the 2017 signal-caller.
Martell took to his personal Twitter account on Monday to announce new offers from a trio of schools that includes North Carolina and Pittsburgh:

Rated the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in his class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Martell completed 56.1 percent of his passes for 2,608 yards and 32 touchdowns (with six interceptions) in 2015 as a junior at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. He also rushed for 604 yards and nine scores.
Should Martell seriously consider the two ACC teams, he would be looking at two completely different quarterback situations.
UNC projects to return starter Mitch Trubisky in 2017, which will be Martell’s true freshman year. Behind Trubisky, the quarterbacks group is crowded with Caleb Henderson of the 2014 class, Nathan Elliott of the 2015 class and Logan Byrd and Chazz Surratt of the 2016 class.
Pitt could be looking at an open quarterback competition in 2017. Senior Nathan Peterman graduates out of the program this fall, and UCF transfer Bo Schneider will go into his redshirt sophomore year looking to battle it out with Adam Bertke of the 2014 class, Ben DiNucci of the 2015 class and Thomas MacVittie of the 2016 class.
