When Jim Grobe arrived at Wake Forest in 2001, he immediately set out to build a solid offensive line, which in turn supported one of the country’s better running attacks. But by the time Grobe left Wake Forest after the 2013 season, the line was in tatters and the Deacons often looked like a high school team trying to block college players.
So the question for Dave Clawson’s third season is, will Wake Forest’s line improve? Well, actually, it would be difficult to be any worse since over the last two seasons the Deacons have given up more sacks and gained fewer rushing yards than any FBS program. So let’s change that question to: How much will Wake Forest’s line improve?
